Shillong, Oct 04: Since it is reported that 29 people were tested positive for COVID-19 on the 2nd and 3rd October, 2020 at Shilliang Jashar Village under Pynursla C&RD Block and in the interest of health of general public to prevent against any possible spread of COVID-19.
In order to facilitate contact tracing, testing and isolation the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on 3rd October, 2020 has declared the above mentioned village as a containment area with effect from 3rd October, 2020 so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit on the site.
The order state that no person shall be allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the area shall not move out, besides all inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes.
All shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall remain closed and all private institutions located within the boundary of the containment area to remain closed.
Gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms including social, political, religious, economic activities are not allowed.
The Incident Commander and Block Development Officer, Pynursla C&RD Block shall supervise, identify area of demarcation of containment area along with the Medical Officer and Police and cause requisite publicity.
The order will not apply to health workers and essential workers on COVID-19 duty. Any violation of the order shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and I.P.C.
