Shillong, December 19: A delightful evening of music and childhood talent unfolded at the Lariti Performing Centre in Mawdiangdiang, Shillong, as students of Persara Piano took the stage for a Beatles Piano recital.
The Commissioner & Secretary Arts & Culture, Shri.F.R Kharkongor lauded Persara Studio’s contribution to nurturing young musical talent.
Speaking at the occasion Shri.F.R Kharkongor said the recital marked the inaugural public performance at the Lariti Centre’s newly opened “Little Black Box” theater, a fitting platform for the budding musicians to showcase their skills.
He also commended Persara Studio for providing a nurturing environment where young musical talents can blossom under the guidance of skilled instructors. He compared the studio to a “nursery” where inherent talents are cultivated and honed.
The Commissioner & Secretary Arts and Culture, also expressed gratitude to the parents who actively encourage their children’s artistic pursuits, recognizing their role in shaping well-rounded individuals skilled in various disciplines.
He further acknowledged Shillong’s and Meghalaya’s deep-rooted musical heritage, emphasizing that music is ingrained in the region’s cultural identity. He expressed his personal wish to learn an instrument but humorously confessed to only mastering the “radio” so far.
The Commissioner and Secretary Arts & Culture, pledged the department’s continued support for initiatives like Persara Studio, aiming to provide platforms for young talents to shine and further solidify Meghalaya’s reputation as a beacon of artistic excellence.
Kharkongor also highlighted the invaluable potential of young people, comparing their talents to a renewable and infinite resource compared to finite resources like coal. He emphasized the importance of investing in the youth and nurturing their abilities for a brighter future.
The young pianists enthralled the audience with renditions of Beatles classics, jazz pieces, and a variety of other genres, showcasing their versatility and musical prowess.
