Guwahati, Sept 13: Assam’s largest dairy cooperative, West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd. (WAMUL), popularly known by the brand name Purabi Dairy, participated at the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022, organised at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida from September 12-15.
WAMUL was represented under the banner of National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) with display of Purabi brand milk and milk products.
The four-day long IDF WDS 2022 being held from September 12-15, is a congregation of global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry leaders, experts, farmers and policy planners centring around the theme of ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.
Around 1500 participants from 50 countries are expected to participate in IDF WDS 2022. The last such summit was held in India about half a century ago in 1974.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit (IDF WDS) 2022 organised at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, on September 12.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed happiness that all the dignitaries from the world of dairy have assembled in India today. The Prime Minister said that the World Dairy Summit is going to be a great medium for the exchange of ideas.
“The potential of the dairy sector not only gives impetus to the rural economy, but is also a major source of livelihood for crores of people across the world,” he said.
Assam’s dairy cooperative, WAMUL, through its brand Purabi has been a source of livelihood to the dairy farmers of Assam by ensuring round the year remunerative price and assured market.
