BJP has deliberated on the ‘We Card’ and ‘MYE Card’ launched by the TMC before election

Shillong, Jan 07: The BJP spokesperson M Kharkrang said that they  deliberated on the reasons behind the launch of the We Card and Mye Card of the TMC just before the elections.

The deliberation was necessary because the TMC did not just promise benefits under the proposed scheme, but started taking registrations without having any mandate by the people to do so.

The TMC has not formed a government, but are taking registrations as if they have, and in the process are taking the people of the state for a ride. By taking a cursory look at the whole scheme of things, one may assume that the TMC has pegged the price of a vote at Rs. 1000 per month. However, there is more to it than meets the eye.

The BJP spokesperson, M Kharkrang expressed disgust at TMC’s attempt to make the women and youth of the state completely dependent on the party. Instead of trying to create jobs, and fill up vacancies, the TMC is trying to promote unemployment.

The TMC estimates that almost 4.16 Lakh youth of Meghalaya will derive benefits under the Mye Card scheme every year. This in effect translates to the TMC conspiring to keep 4.16 Lakh youth Meghalaya always unemployed.

Metaphorically speaking, Kharkrang said, the TMC is promising to give everyone a fish, and asking people to form a queue already, whereas the BJP is promising to empower the people so that they may be able to fish for themselves and not remain at the mercy of politicians.

Mr. Kharkrang said the people of Meghalaya take pride in their capability to work under all circumstances. They are diligent and hard working. They are creative, they are strong and they are survivors.

The tribals of Meghalaya are a proud people who do not accept freebies as a way of life. By luring the people with menial schemes, the TMC was trying to hurt the self-respect of the proud tribes of Meghalaya.

He said, that the matter of where will the Rs. 1200 Crores required for both the schemes come from was a secondary one. The TMC can easily trade development and growth of Meghalaya and its people to pay for the scheme and turn people from independent to dependent.

But the TMC leaders will emerge as the bosses who dole out Rs. 1000/- to the people every month. Meghalaya, which is already struggling to manage its finances would fall into further regression. And that Kharkrang said was the biggest concern.

Mr. Kharkrang said that the self-respect of the people of Meghalaya is not up for sale – not for Rs. 1000 per month and not for any other amount. He said, if we looked closely enough, it will become clear that the TMC has in fact pegged the price of the tribal pride at Rs. 1000 per month.
