BJP President met the Governor urged to call for special session to discussed issued of GHADC

Shillong, August  04: The State BJP team led by Shri Rikman G Momin, State President and Shri Bernard N Marak, MDC and State Vice President along with State Secretary Mrs Angie Sangma met the Governor to apprise him of the issues related to Garo Hills, particularly the GHADC.

The issues discussed centred around the irregularities of fund utilization  in GHADC which is hampering the functioning of GHADC as employees have ceased work as they did not get their salary for many months.

The BJP has taken up the issue of Non Tribals being elected to the Tribal Autonomous District Council in the meeting has been proposed that Tribal certificate be made mandatory during nomination to contest the MDC elelction.

The BJP urged the Governor for the constitution of the State Finance Commission for devolution of funds, handing over of the Rural and Urban Local Bodies to ADCs and they have also discussed amongst other things.

In the meeting the Governor assured to look into these matters and BJP team invited him to visit Garo Hills to review the issues of the Council. BJP team had earlier submitted a letter requesting the Governor to hold a special session in GHADC to discuss matters related to the ongoing crisis in GHADC.
