Cattle smuggling goes on along the international border in Meghalaya:BSF

Shillong, Dec 26The attempts of cattle smuggling continues through the porous and vulnerable International Border in Meghalaya.On intervening night of 24th/25th Dec 2019, 124 number cattle heads and truck valued Rs 33 Lakhs were seized by BSF in Meghalaya along the International Border.

The seized cattle were meant for smuggling to Bangladesh. Most of cattle were transported in trucks through the National highway from the neighbouring states.The alert BSF troops are foiling the nefarious attempts of trans border criminals along the 444Km International Border with Meghalaya.

The BSF has been approaching civil administration to carry out auction of seized cattle in depth area and notin close proximity of the international border to prevent re-cycling of seized cattle for smuggling purpose.

The BSF PRO said that such type of operations will continue to minimise the cattle smuggling in Meghalaya Border in coming days.
