Guwahati, July 26: Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limted as its continued commitment towards building communities has come out in full support of the North East region for the rehabilitation of the affected people in the States of Assam and Meghalaya, owing to the floods in the entire region. The company donated INR 50 lacs to the Assam CM’s relief fund today, so as to help the flood affected victims in the region.
Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited also donated INR 50 lacs to the Meghalaya CM’s Relief Fund on 20th July, 2019.Mr. Sunil Aggarwal, Executive Director, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. handed over the cheques to the Chief Ministers.
Mr. UjjwalBatria, Chief Operating Officer, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. said, “These are testing times for the people of Assam and Meghalaya. I would like to congratulate the Governments of Assam and Meghalaya for their unrelenting efforts to manage the situation.
Dalmia Cement has been present in the region for close to a decade now and we are committed to support and rehabilitate the people in the North East. We are confident that the region will emerge strong and spirited from the aftermath of the floods. We would also urge everyone to come forward and contribute to the region so as to get North East back on its feet”
Apart from supporting the states monetarily, the company is also working very closely with the State Governments to carry out relief work in Dhubri, Bogaigaon and Barpeta districts of Assam and Garo Hills in Meghalaya. The company has already started on ground relief work and is distributing relief materials like food items and emergency supplies in the flood affected areas. Dalmia Cement will continue to ramp up the relief support in the days to come.
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mr Conrad Sangma, shared his appreciation on social media. He wrote, “Thank you Dalmia Cement for your contribution of Rs. 50 lakh for Meghalaya flood. We appreciate your gesture, your contribution will help us rebuild lives of our people.”
