Shillong, April 26: The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), Shillong under the Education Department, Government of Meghalaya has successfully conducted the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) held onthe 25th April, 2025 for both Lower Primary and Upper Primary levels. The examination was held at 38 venues across all 12 Districts of Meghalaya.
A total of 14,503 candidates have applied for the MTET Examination for the Lower Primary level and 12,813 candidates applied for the Upper Primary level. The percentage of candidates appeared for the Lower Primary level is appeared for the Upper Primary level.
The conduct of the MTET is a vital step towards ensuring the quality of education in the State, and the high turnout reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of aspiring teachers.Qualifying the MTET is one of the essential qualifications as per the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for appointment of teachers in the Lower and Upper Primary levels in Meghalaya.
