District and Session Judge of WGH, Tura convicted Mr. Nenggrik under Section IPC

Shillong, Nov 02:  Tura Women PS Case No. 38(06)2017 u/s 366/368/376 IPC On 02 nd June 2017, an information was received at Tura Women PS that one Mr. Nenggrik D Sangma has sexually assaulted a girl while she was returning from her school towards her home.

On receipt of information, a case was immediately registered vide Tura Women PS Case No. 38(06)2017 u/s 366/368/376 IPC and investigation was entrusted to WP/UBSI Salmay R. Marak. The investigation was done meticulously and the chargesheet was submitted on 1 st May 2018.

After completion of trial, District and  Session Judge, West Garo Hills, Tura found the accused person namely Mr. Nenggrik D Sangma guilty and convicted him under Section 368/376 (i) IPC.

Subsequent to the judgment, the Court sentenced the accused person to undergo “four years simple imprisonment and fine of Rs. 20,000/-  for the offence u/s 368 IPC and to seven years simple imprisonment and fine of Rs. 50,000/-  for the offence u/s 376 (i) IPC. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a further period of three months.”

Tura Women PS Case No. 05(02)2016 u/s 11(i)/12 of POCSO Act. On 19th February 2016, an information was received at Tura Women PS that one Shri Lukias G Momin has molested a minor girl on 18th February 2016.

On receipt of information, a case was immediately registered vide Tura Women PS Case No. 05(02)2016 u/s 11(i)/12 of POCSO Act and investigation was entrusted to WP/UBI G.T. Sangma. The investigation was done meticulously and the chargesheet was submitted on 26th July 2016.

After completion of trial, Hon’ble Court of Special Judge (POCSO), West Garo Hills, Tura found the accused person namely Shri Lukias G Momin guilty and convicted him under Section 71 of IPC and Section 42 of POCSO Act 2012. Subsequent to the judgment, the Hon’ble Court sentenced the accused person to undergo “6 (six) months rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs. 60,000/- (Rupees sixty thousand only).

In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a Page 2 of 2 further period of 6 (six) months, for committing the offence of sexual harassment to the victim.” Tura Women PS Case No. 18(05)2016 u/s 7/8 of POCSO Act. On 22nd May 2016, an information was received at Tura Women PS that one Shri Arindom Das has molested a minor girl on 16th May 2016.

On receipt of information, a case was immediately registered vide Tura Women PS Case No. 18(05)2016 u/s 7/8 of POCSO Act and investigation was entrusted to WPSI Renu D Momin. The investigation was done meticulously and the chargesheet was submitted on 29 th November 2016.

After completion of trial, Hon’ble Court of Special Judge (POCSO), West Garo Hills, Tura found the accused person namely Shri Arindom Das guilty and convicted him under Section 8 R/W Section 18 of POCSO Act 2012.

Subsequent to the judgment, the Hon’ble Court, sentenced the accused person to undergo “One and half years of simple imprisonment and fine of Rs. 20,000/-. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo simple imprisonment for a further period of six months, for committing the offence of attempt to sexual assault.”
