Shillong, Jan 13: Double centuries by guest-professional Sanjay Yadav and Ravi Teja put Meghalaya firmly in control of their Ranji Trophy match against Mizoram on the second day in Kolkata today.
Resuming in the morning on 414/4, Meghalaya finally declared on 662/4. At stumps yesterday Teja was on 119 not out and Yadav on 107 not out and they both reached their double tons today, with Yadav finishing unbeaten on 254 from 228 deliveries (23 fours, 13 sixes) and Teja not out on 204 (18 fours, 1 six). The pair put on a massive 440 runs in fantastic partnership together.
By day’s end Mizoram were 114/7, with Abhay Negi (2/15) and Aditya Singhania (2/30) both picking up a brace. There were also wickets for Chengkam Sangma (1/4), Yadav (1/20) and Akash Kumar Choudhary (1/23).
Meanwhile, in Meghalaya’s U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Manipur, which started today, Meghalaya won the toss and chose to bat first but were dismissed for 94 in their first innings. Captain Raghav Kapur top-scored with 27. At stumps Manipur were 129/6. Kishan Lyngdoh took 3/26 for Meghalaya, with Lokesh Turaha (1/7), Anish Charak (1/30) and Aditya Verma (1/35) also among the wickets.
