Mairang, Jan 31: With the Model Code of Conduct being in force with effect from the date of announcement of the general elections to the MeghalayaLegislative Assembly till completion of the conduct of the elections and since the filing of nomination papers commences from 11:00 AM till 3:00 PM with effect from 31st January, 2023 till 7th February, 2023.
The District Magistrate, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Mairang in an order issued on 31st January 2023 under Section 144 CrPC has prohibited the use of more than three vehicles by any intended contesting candidate during filing of nomination papers.
The Deputy Commissioner also prohibited assembly of more than five persons and more than three vehicles within a radius of 100 metres from the office of the District Magistrate, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Mairang during the period of filing of nomination papers.
The order was necessitated in order to prevent overcrowding which might affect the normal flow of vehicles during the period of filing of nomination papers in and around the office premises of the Returning Officers.
