Shillong, March 6: An election is to be held of a Member of the Council of States by the elected members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. Nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or by any of his proposers to the Returning Officer or to the Assistant Returning Officer at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Police Bazaar (Khyndailad), Shillong in his office room between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on any day other than public holiday not later than 13th March, 2020.
Forms of nomination paper may be obtained from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Police Bazaar (Khyndailad), Shillong. The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at the Conference Hall Main Assembly Secretariat Campus, Police Bazaar (Khyndailad), Shillong on 16th March, 2020 at 12:00 Noon.
Notice for withdrawal of candidature may be delivered by a candidate or his proposer or his election agent who has been authorized in writing by the candidate to deliver it to either of the officers specified above at his office before 3:00 PM on 18th March, 2020.
In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken on 26th March, 2020 between the hours 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
