Shillong, Nov 16: The first Boot-camp and Pitching Session for top 100 entrepreneurs selected under the Chief Minister’s E-Champion Challenge 2019 conducted by the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE) was inaugurated today at Shillong.
The two-day Boot-camp session was attended by Dr. D. Vijay Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary Planning department and Director General, Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE).
Mr B. Mawlong, Director, MIE, mentors from Indian Institute of Management- Calcutta Innovation Park (IIM-CIP) which includes C. D. Mitra, Kaustav Majumdar, Prajal Konwar and Debarpratim Das, officials from Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) among others.
Speaking on occasion, Dr. Vijay Kumar said that the fundamental idea of entrepreneurship initiated by the state government is to inculcate the entrepreneurial culture among the youth in the state.
With 63% of the population of the state are under the age of 34 years, which is one of the highest in the country, Dr. Kumar said that the Institute of Entrepreneurship is committed to take advantage of these young energies and nurture their ideas.
Dr. Kumar also enlighten the role of the government in facilitating and promoting entrepreneurs in the state by creating an eco system, take policy measures, provide a platform for entrepreneurs to come together, to interact and exchange ideas and to conduct programmes from time to time.
He also informed that entrepreneurship is one of the important sectors focus by the state government for the overall development and therefore entrepreneurs have a huge part to make Meghalaya a prosperous state.
The Boot-camp will conclude on Monday where the entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to put forward their entrepreneurship ideas before the panel of judges.
