Green Technology and  Sustainable Champions felicitated across North East  State

Guwahati, June 05: A few individuals and organisations working for and towards sustainability and green technology from across North East  were today felicitated at the launch of The Centre for Ethics & Sustainable Development (TCESD) held in Guwahati. Founded by Hamad M.A.R. Berlashker, Entrepreneur and Communication Professional, the organisation will work towards creating awareness on green technology and sustainability.

Felicitated under the Green Technology category were Mr. Ankur Hatibaruah of Bitchem Asphalt Technologies Ltd.; Mr. Bhargav Deori, Co-founder & Director at Renergy Solutions Private Limited and Mr. TG Nengnong, Chief Engineer (Standards) Public Works Department (Roads), Government of Meghalaya.

Under the category of Sustainability – Mr. Gunajit Brahma, Founder & Director, Jeev Anksh Eco Products Pvt. Ltd. , Mr. Moharana Choudhury, Researcher & Environmentalist and Rainforest Club Tamenglong, Manipur- were felicitated.

Speaking on the occasion, Hamad M.A.R. Berlashker, Founder – CEO, The Centre for Ethics & Sustainable Development said, “The seeds of inspiration for this organisation was sown by my mentors Prof. Sanjoy Mukherjee and Prof. Tapas K. Giri back at IIM Shillong in 2012. I was deeply inspired by their teachings on ethics and sustainability, it made me realise how important these subjects are. I felt that work can be done to promote exchange of knowledge and ideas and thereby contribute to this field.  With this forum, we set sail for a challenging journey ahead”.

Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, presided over the event as the Chief Guest and Mr. Sanjoy Mukherjee, Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Shillong was present as the Guest of Honour. Young Indians (Yi), the youth body of Confederation of Indian Industries were the knowledge partner for the occasion.

In his address, Dr. Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, emphasised on how ethics and sustainability plays an important role for developing business relations between countries.

Eminent speakers in the event were Mr. Sanjoy Mukherjee- Associate Professor, IIM Shillong; Dr. Debendra Chandra Baruah- Professor, Tezpur University; Mr. Ronojoy Sen, Architect and Dr. Chandan Mahanta- Professor, IIT Guwahati.

In his address, Mr. Sanjoy Mukherjee- Associate Professor, IIM Shillong said, ” At IIM Shillong we put stress on sustainability and ethics and our past student Hamad Berlashker has lived up to the values of the institute and keep the IIM Shillong flag high. I am extremely happy and proud that he has started this forum and is acknowledging individual and organisations for their work. I wish TCESD a great success and hope it is an ongoing movement.”
