Shillong, July 12: The organsation Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) today met the Chief Minister Mr. Cornad K Sangma, during their meeting they have raise the issued on the upper age limit for recruitment in the   government services.

The President of the organsation Mr. Donbok Dkhar said that during the meeting with the Chief Minister the organsation asked the government to increased the upper age limit in government employment to 40 years which the chief minister said that he government may consider the upper age limit upto 37 years.

In the meeting the leaders of the organsation said that with extreme shortage of government jobs even through various competitive exams already a challenge for aspiring and able career seeking youths of the State, another problem that is taking seed steadily is the age limit lapse obstacle due to academics, career exams etc. being delayed or postponed on account of the ongoing pandemic.

Without further wasting your valuable time to elaborate on the bleak future that awaits such deserving sons and daughters of this soil, if such unwarranted impediments are not effectively removed by the Government spearheaded by you, HITO requests your urgent attention to this matter of grave importance.

May we inform you that way back on September 14, 2014 the Government of Karnataka reasonably increased the upper age limit of candidates appearing for gazetted probationers of the Karnataka Administrative Service examination by two years thus giving them two more attempts at their goal.

Presently the upper age limit is 37 years General, 40 years OBC and 42 years SC/ST from the previous 35, 38 and 40 years limit. This is still acknowledged as much welcomed foresight and prompt intervention by the then state government.

With job opportunities even in the unorganized sector leave aside private, corporate or government; now a scarce commodity and relegated to empty or fraudulent promises, Meghalaya’s bright, dynamic and rearing to go youths need to see their government respond to them positively. In this their era of utter need, we urge you to at least point them towards the light at the end of the tunnel so as to keep the fire burning in them.

In the meeting the organsation also raid the issue of the boundary issued in the meeting with the Chief Minister the organsation asked the government to settle the boundary dispute with the government of Assam and to settle the problems.
