Shillong, August 31: The Indian Air Force helicopter launched a major rescue operation at isolated island in flood affected Siang River at Jampani , Arunachal Pradesh ,on the requisition made by State authorities late in the evening on 30 August 2018.
One Mi-17 helicopter was launched from Mohanbari , Assam at first light on 31 Aug at 0438 hrs . All nineteen person including six children were rescued safely .The operation was carried out both by landing and winching. Opperation was completed by 0700 hours today.
