In one week the BSF has seized 324 cattle in the IB With Bangladesh from Meghalaya

Shillong, Dec 24: The BSF seized large number of cattle on international border of Meghalaya Cattle smuggling continue to flourish on Indo-Bangladesh Border along Meghalaya. Frequent seizures by the BSF are an indicator of phenomenal increase in smuggling attempts along this border.

Although BSF has plugged the vulnerable patches but the attempt of smuggling continues. The cattle are cruelly stuffed and cramped in trucks with their limbs and mouth tied up. These trucks and Boleros commute from the neighbouring states without any fear of restrictions imposed by the State Administration.

On 23rd Dec’ 2019, vigilantBSF troops deployed at Mobile Check Post on NH-06 atKuliang in East Jantia Hills Distt intercepted a Truck cruelly loaded with cattle and seized 42 cattle worthRs. 18 lacs. Besides this, BSF troops on the same day seized 60 Cattle in various operations worth Rs. 8 lacs at International Border in Meghalaya.

Similarly, BSF troops deployed inJaintia Hills and South Garo Hills,during the week seized 324 cattle of value Rs. 44 lac, which were to be smuggled to Bangladesh. As such the total seizer in last week was 374 cattle including three trucks and two Boleros loaded with cattle.

Shri U K Nayal DIG Public Relation Officer of BSFFtr HQ Meghalaya said that‘BSFalong with local police has stepped up its special drive against the cattle smuggling and will continue with the operations to prevent nefarious design of trans-border criminals on International Border.’
