Shillong, Nov 12: The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority has organised the National Lok Adalat on the 12th November, 2022 in all the districts of the State of Meghalaya, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
This was under the Patronage of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjib Banerjee, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron-inChief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and under the supervision of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice H.S.Thangkhiew, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
In the National Lok Adalat, 785 Pre-Litigation cases and 454 pending cases were taken up for settlement. Total number of cases taken up was 1239, and of which 216 cases were settled for a total amount of ` 1,33,86,382.17/- (Rupees One lakh thirty three lakhs eighty six thousand three hundred eighty two and seventeen paise) only in the National Lok Adalat.
