Shillong, March 11: The state unit of BJP Meghalaya is strongly opposed to the Govt.’s attempts to terminate the one man committee, headed by Justice (Retd.) BP Katakey, which has been looking into the accusations of illegal coal mining in Meghalaya.
Meghalaya BJP Chief spokesperson, Shri Mariahom Kharkrang said, that the committee has been appointed by the High Court and it’s imperative that the panel takes the enquiry to its logical conclusion.
Terminating the panel at this juncture is tantamount to obstruction of justice and prevention of the truth emerging into the public domain. Rather than removing him, the Govt should be concerned about unearthing the people behind illegal mining and transportation of coal.
“As a party that advocates transparency in all walks of public life, BJP Meghalaya disagrees with the Govt.’s reported move to end the service of Justice (Retd.) BP Katakey”.
“The state unit of BJP has also formed a panel to enquire into the allegations of illegal coal mining in our state. The findings of our enquiry will also be submitted to our Central Leadership on completion” said Mr. Kharkrang Concluded Chief spokesperson of the BJP Meghalaya state Unit.
