KSU Delhi  met Mr Cornad, apprised him on the recent trafficking incident in Delhi

Shillong, Feb 20: The Khasi Students’ Union New Delhi Chapter met with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mr Conrad K Sangma in New Delhi on wednesday in following up and various issues of the state and have proposed some suggestive measures to the Chief Minister.:

The KSU in the meeting with the Chief Minister apprised him on the recent trafficking incident, the Delhi unit has addressed the government to take long term measures to curb the trafficking of young and minor girls from the state and at the same time the Union have addressed the divorce rate within the state which is at an alarming pace which is one factor that contributes to such cases.

The KSU  have also urged the Chief Minister for a speedy implementation of the marriage Act that has been initiated by the Maitshaphrang Movement Convener, Bah Micheal Syiem and also to reach out to the unorganized sector and vulnerable sections. To increase the women workforce into the formal sector has been another proposal made by the union.

The Chief minister have also expressed a concerned regarding this issue and assured the Union that women empowerment and it’s issues will be giving more importance in the next budget session.

Regarding Neighrims issues, the Union have also reminded the Chief Minister on the previous demand by the Central body in appointment of the official Director of Neighrims. The Chief Minister has responded positively and the work is at an advance stage and in no time, this will be successful.

The KSU Delhi Chapter also follow up on the Inner Line Permit and from the student body is looking forward on a positive result and giving support to the CM and his team in his meeting with the Union Home Minister.
