Shillong, June 16: Ka Sur u Paidbah ka Bri u Hynniew Trep today has sent memorandum to the Union Minister Mr. Thaawarchand Gehlot Social Justice ,Child and Women Empowerment,Government of India.
In the letter the organisation demand for constituting CBI enquiry on alleged wrongfully or illegally stocked, repackaging of Rice by Maruti Quality Products Private Limited in Chhaygoan Industrial Development Centre,Chhatabari,Kamrup Rural District, Assam.
The Group stated that the circumstances compelling them to approach the ministry, are due to serious issue of which broke out as also seen in a news channels as well as in social media platform that thousands matric tonnes of rice from FCI Regional Office, Shillong meant for the State of Meghalaya which has been illegally transported to Assam.
The Group has narrated in the memorandum that, on 13 June 2021 Assam Police of Boko Police Station, Kamrup Rural District busted and seized around 100000 packets rice of 50 Kg per bag from Private Godown in Chhaygoan Industrial Development Centre,Chhatabari,Kamrup Rural District.
The godown belongs to Shri Deepak Agarwal owner of one Company known as Maruti Quality Products Private Limited. the police also detained 13 trucks who involved in this rice transportation.
That as per the reports that rice was carried and transported from FCI Regional Office, Shillong released for the State of Meghalaya through Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya,Shillong under National Wheat Based Nutrition Program.
But Surprisingly for what purpose the allotted rice was transported and kept in Private Godown at Assam as stated above, it has also been reported that the FCI, Shillong allocated the said rice to Continental Milkcose Ltd.
That it further reported that the aforesaid company ( MQPPL) were involved in repackaging the said rice in its own bags for selling and supply to Meghalaya.
The Group mention in the memorandum that Meghalaya is a tribal domination state lacking behind almost in all aspect of social development in the field of health ,education, living standard and well being of young children, adolescence and the common citizen due to lacking of various fundamental facilities and other necessary support from the concern authority especially in rural areas.
In this regard, the group urged upon the Government of India may kindly be please take bold necessary action for instituting CBI enquiry into this instance allegation scam and stern legal proceeding should be initiated against those who in loved therein.
