Shillong, March 19: Meghalaya Ginger is now for sale in Dubai Market , a team of four officials from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya and eight farmers from the State recently participated in a Market Exposure Visit to Dubai from 16th to 18th March.
This visit was organized by the Meghalaya State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) and followed the first-ever sea shipment of 15 tons of organic ginger from Meghalaya to Dubai This exposure visit aimed to equip farmers with a deeper understanding of global market dynamics, pricing strategies, and marketing techniques to enhance their competitiveness in international markets.
The initiative embodies the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya to uplift the agriculture sector by unlocking global market access, empowering farmer collectives, and forming strategic alliances.
This initiative is part of the state’s broader mission to create sustainable growth, ensuring that Meghalaya’s farmers thrive in a globally competitive environment. The delegation included officials, Smt. Batrity M. Umlong, Director of Horticulture.

Discussions with traders and wholesalers provided valuable knowledge on consumer preferences, pricing dynamics, and market expectations. 17th March 2025: Showcase at Our Wellness Village Café, Sahara Centre, Sharjah Meghalaya’s farm products were showcased to a diverse audience of United Arab Emirates (UAE) consumers, business leaders, and retailers, creating significant interest in the region’s rich agricultural diversity.
The display included organic ginger, turmeric, honey, and other niche products that reflect the state’s unique agro-climatic conditions and traditional farming practices.
