Meghalaya Governor said that the North East of India as the gateway to the East

Shillong, Oct 16: In order to provide huge momentum towards publicity and marketing of the products, services of MSME units of the North Eastern Region, the Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Tathagata Roy today inaugurated the 11th edition of the East Himalayan Trade Fair (EHTF) 2019 at SRGT Parking Area, Polo Ground, Shillong.

In his brief address, Shri Roy said that this kind of trade fair is crucial for the growth of north east region, adding that this is in line with the Act East Policy of Government of India which recognizes the importance of the North East of India as the gateway to the East.

It may be mentioned that the 11th East Himalayan Trade Fair on the theme “MSME-An Engine for NER Growth” was organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), a Government of India enterprise in collaboration with Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Meghalaya. The Trade Fair was also supported by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Ministry of Justice, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of Assam.

Altogether 77 MSME units from the entire northeastern region displayed their wide range of products comprises of  horticulture, household goods, food items including processed food, textiles, handicraft, products of rural artisans, SHGs, SME’s product and services, etc.

The East Himalayan Trade Fair which will continue till 22nd October, 2019 and will be open for public from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm daily.
