Meghalaya Govt required 47.7350 acres land from Pomlum to Lwai for 2-lanning Road

Shillong, Dec 15: The Revenue & Disaster Management Department, Government of Meghalaya in a Notification issued has informed that a total of 46.7350 acres of land is required by the Government of Meghalaya.

The Government will acquired from 7th Mile Upper Shillong Pomlum to Lwai village in East Khasi Hills District for public purpose, namely Additional Land Acquisition for 2-laning of Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura Road NH-44 and Nongstoin-Tura Road under Phase ‘A’ of SARDP-NE.

A Social Impact Assessment has been conducted by the Meghalaya Institute of Governance and the Independent Multi-Disciplinary Expert Group has submitted the report on the Social Impact Assessment Study.

Therefore, it is notified that for the above project, from 7th Mile Upper Shillong Pomlum to Lwai village in East Khasi Hills, a piece of land measuring more or less 46.7350 acres is under acquisition.

The Notification has been made under the provision of Section 11 (1) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (Act No. 30/2013) to all whom it may concern and a plan of the land may be inspected in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, on any working day.

The Notification stated that the Government has authorized the Deputy Commissioner and her staff to enter upon and survey land, take levels of any land, dig or bore into the sub-soil and do all other acts required for the proper execution of their work as provided and specified in section 12 of the said Act.

Under Section 11 (4) of the Act, no person shall make any transaction or cause any transaction of land, i.e. sale/purchase, etc or create any encumbrances on such land from the date of publication of such notification without prior approval of the District Collector.

 The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), East Khasi Hills District has been appointed as Administrator for the purpose of rehabilitation and resettlement of the affect families, and objections, if any, may be filed by the person interested within sixty days from the date of publication as provided under section 15 of the said Act before the District Collector, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong. This was informed by the Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
