Shillong, Nov 10: Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker, Shri Metbah Lyngdoh today unveiled the foundation stone of the new office building of Mairang Community and Rural Development Block at Mairang Block office premises in the presence of Meghalaya Community and Rural Development Minister, Shri Hamletson Dohling, Water Resources Minister, Shri Brolding Nongsiej, Deputy Commissioner, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Shri W. Nongsiej, BDO Mairang C&RD Block, Dr. L. R Hynniewta, other government officials and others.
During his address as Chief Guest, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker, Shri Metbah Lyngdoh stated that Mairang C&RD Block is one of the oldest C&RD Blocks of the state while also underscoring on the occasion, the importance of the services rendered by the block office which bridges the connection between citizens with the government and its different departments since it is engaged with implementation of various state and central government schemes and programmes.
On the occasion, the Speaker also applauded the efforts of the Community & Rural Development Minister, Shri Hamletson Dohling in facilitating the sanctioning of the project worth 2 crores and 88 lakhs and whose construction would commence in due course of time.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Community and Rural Development Minister, Shri Hamletson Dohling in his speech dwelt at length on the achievements of the Community and Rural Development Department particularly in regards to the implementation of the MNREGS and the upsurge of the SHG movement in the state in the last few years.
He also informed that all 46 C&RD Blocks of the state will be getting new office buildings with Rs. 2.50 crores each being sanctioned for 6 blocks and cumulatively Rs. 120 crores for the other 40 blocks.
Others who spoke during the programme include Meghalaya Water Resources Minister, Shri H.B Nongsiej, Deputy Commissioner, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Shri W. Nongsiej, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Shri C.P Mawkon and BDO Mairang C&RD Block, Dr. L. R Hynniewta.
