Shillong, February 11: The Secretary, Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has informed that the Commission, in its order dated 6th December, 2024, had recommended the payment of compensation to the next of kin of (L) Wanlangki Dkhar, a juvenile (child in conflict with law) who died in Civil Hospital, Shillong on 9th March, 2020 to the tune of Rs. 5,00,000/- and the same should be paid by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
The Director of Health Services (MI) through its letter dated 7th February, 2025, informed the Commission that the amount was paid by cheque to Mrs. Modly Dkhar, mother of the deceased in presence of Health officials and the officials of the MHRC.
