MLCU to show gratitude to the department of FES organized appreciation programme

Shillong Oct 05: “Courage isn’t that you can see what lies ahead ; courage means you will advance not knowing and doing at all costs”. To show their gratitude and acknowledge to  the sacrifices made by the fire fighters of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Shillong.

The Students Affairs Committee of Martin Luther Christian University, today visited the department and organised a appreciation programme. This event is a kick-starter for the University  Week, “Aurora 2018”, which will start on October 8-13, 2018.

The students and faculty members of the Students Affairs Committee performed songs and a skit to entertain the officers and staff of the Department of F&ES, momentos were also presented to the department and the staff. Mr Chemphang Syrti, the SP of the Department; Mr John Swer, DSP other officers and staff of the department were present during the event.The HoD of Psychology, MLCU, Ms M Kyndiah, conducted a stress management session to help the fire fighters to deal with the stress that comes from their kind of job.

Speaking during the event of the the SP, Shri. Chemphang Syrti, MPS expressed his thanks to the University and the members of the Students Affairs Committee for thinking of them for such an event, and he further added in all the years of his service this is the first time that any organisation or institution has shown such appreciation and gratitude to the department.

Mr Alvin Mathew, faculty from the Department of Psychology spoke briefly about the courage of the fire fighters and how we as a society should always be grateful for the services provided by the fire fighters.
