Shillong, Nov 17: The North East Forum for Indigenous people (NEFIP) has call the people of the North Eastern State, including MPs and state government to come up openly to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, which the Government will re-introduce the bill in this winter session of parliament begin tomorrow.
The NEFIP which comprised of all the NGOs of the North Eastern State call for mass agitation in protest aginst passing of the CAB by the Government of India. The objective of the Bill if passed will allowed Non Muslim minorities from Bangladesh to settle in India, where the NGOs opposed.
In the press statement issued by the general secretary of the NEFIP Mr Robertjune Kharjahrin said that, the Federating State Organization of NEFIP, since the tabling and pass of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, since 09th January 2019 they have been opposing, the said bill which challenges the very existence of the Indigenous people of the North Eastern Region.
The NEFIP on the 09th August they have submitted memorandum to the prime minister of India through the respective head of the state, followed by another submission of the same to chief minister of the region on the 03th October 2019 appraising on the devastative effect s if CAB enacted to the entire North Eastern region.
In spite of the memorandum and protest from the NGOs of the North Eastern Region, the NEFIP learn that the Government of India they will introduce the same bill in this coming parliament winter session 2019 begin tomorrow, the NGOs said that if it is introduce this will undermined the aspiration and the legitimate of the Indigenous of the region.
The General Secretary of the NEFIP in the press statement said that they will resume mass agitation Against the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the authoritative attitude of the Government of India, the mass movement will begin tomorrow Monday.
NEFIP also call all likeminded Social organization to oppose the bill collectively, they also call upon the MPs of the members of the respective State Legislative assemblies to oppose the Bill.
