Shillong, February 11: The North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in collaboration with IIT Bhilaya organized a one-day outreach program on “Sensitisation of App Connecting Housemaids with Prospective Employers” at its campus today.
The program aimed to introduce “Maidful”, a mobile application designed to connect housemaids with potential employers in a safe, efficient, and transparent manner. The app, available in both Khasi and English, is being developed under an IBITF-funded project.
Prof. Nirmalendu Saha, Vice-Chancellor (I/C) of NEHU, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Longshai Nongkhla, Rangbah Shnong of Mawkynroh, and Prof. Md. Iftekhar Hussain, Dean of School of Technology, NEHU, attended as Guests of Honour.
Forty housemaids from surrounding villages participated in the program, along with faculty members and project associates.
The initiative is expected to provide employment opportunities for housemaids in the region, while ensuring their safety and well-being.
