Shillong, Sept 18: The DeenDayal Upadhyay Community College (DDUCC), North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) successfully hosted a five-day “Musical Troupe” training program aimed at delivering high-quality and innovative performing arts training at Wahiajer from 13th to 17th September 2024.
The program, which concluded today, was designed to inspire local artists, nurture musical talent, and help students realize their artistic potential.
The program attracted a diverse group of young local artists and music enthusiasts, eager to challenge themselves and take their skills to the next level.
Participants received advanced musical training, including practical demonstrations from renowned Bollywood film producer and distributor, Prasenjit Mishra, whose illustrious career has left a significant impact on the Indian film industry.
The valedictory function was graced by Professor P.S. Shukla, Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Shukla commended the success of the program and emphasized NEHU’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the skill sets of young artists.
He highlighted the importance of fostering an inclusive environment, where the youth of the community can explore their passions and grow their musical abilities.
“These vital skills are essential in the world of performing arts,” stated Prof. Shukla. “Offering local artists and youths opportunities to develop their talents helps them communicate with broader audiences and collaborate with diverse artists, much like learning a new language.”
The valedictory event was also attended by Prof. S.M. Sungoh, Principal In-charge of DDUCC, and members of Wahiajer Village, showcasing the community’s support.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri WolnishRymbai, Program Coordinator, followed by the distribution of certificates to all participants.
This training program stands as a testament to NEHU’s dedication to uplifting the local artistic community and fostering the creative potential of its youth.
