SDO of Sohra Civil Sub Division promulgated section 162 under BNSS to prevent any incident

Shillong, April 21: The Sub Divisional Officer of Sohra Civil Sub Division said that is has  come to the notice of the undersigned, that there is a dispute between Mawkisyiem village and Nongrim Village, over the ownership of land known as Tiew-u-Jir-Bah.

The area fall  under the jurisdiction of Sohra Civil Sub-Division, Sohra; Whereas, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department has constructed a dispensary at a plot of land given by the Dorbar Shnong, Nongrim.

A construction which may have recently been completed; Whereas, within the vicinity of Tiew-u-Jir-Bah, reportedly is the source of drinking water that waters various Government offices and also villages in the vicinity.

That there is an apprehension that dumping of any kind of waste, whether by offices or households will likely contaminate the water source and compromise the quality of the drinking water.

Now therefore, “I, Shri Mark A. Challam, MCS, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division, Sohra in exercise of the power conferred upon me, u/s 163 BNSS and in order to safeguard and prevent any untoward incident,I do hereby prohibit  dumping of waste, spoil, domestic or medical discharge, etc. by the hill slopes and all along the hill slopes surrounding the water sources at Tiew-u-Jir-Bah, to ensure protection of the source of drinking water within the area”.

Considering tJee nature ald urgencl.- of the rnatter, this crder is passed e:; parte and shall come into force with effect from . l4/ April/ 2025 and until further orders. Violation  will invite other relevant sections of the BNS. Given under my hand and seal this day.
