The 3 days 1st Meghalaya Muaythai and Pro-Fight Championship 2019 concluded

Shillong, Oct 28: The 3 days 1st Meghalaya Muaythai and Pro-Fight Championship 2019 held in Mawlai Mawroh Community Hall organised by Muay Thai Association Meghalaya came to an end on the 26th October 2019 with Shri Banteidor Lyngdoh, Minister Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya as the Chief Guest and Shri John P Lakiang, Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya  Forest & Environment Department as Guest of Honour.

At the Medal Ceremony and Prize Distribution, Shri Banteidor Lyngdoh was impressed with the way how even small children can exhibit their skill and talents and ability on Muay Thai which has gain much popularity in the State.

Muay Thai or literally Thai boxing is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the “art of eight limbs” as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins.

Out of 150 participants, East Khasi District emerged as the Champion followed by West Khasi District and Ri-Bhoi District. The Tournament was conducted by 14 Referees and Judges headed by Angelus Sun as the Chief Jury.

Certificates of qualifying as Instructor oh my were also distributed to those who had attended the Diploma Seminar oof Referee & Judges from 7-12 Oct 2019 that include Joseph Maring, Iona Maring, Aiborlang Syngkli, Dauni Nongrum, Babit Kharsahnoh, Pynnehbor Mylliemngap, Blaseibok Kharbuli, Nathaniel Kurkalang, Pynsuklang Sumer, Fourwell Khongmalai, Paul Ronghang.

There are 16 Senior Categories Gold Medallists of both Amateur & Elite Fight in this tournament have been selected to take part at the National Senior Muaythai (Elite) & Pro-Fight Championship 2019 from 19th – 24th November 2019 to be held at Mangalore Karnataka Beach which is the first of its kind to be held in the Country in the Beach.
