The BSF celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas with great enthusiasm in Shillong and Tura

Shillong, July 27: To mark the 20th anniversary of India’s victory in Kargil war, the Border Security Force, Frontier Meghalaya celebrateda week-long “Kargil Vijay Diwas” (Kargil Victory Day celebrations). The celebrations started on Saturday (July 20th) all along the International Border with Meghalaya and Headquarters at Umpling BSF Camp.

On the Kargil Vijay Diwas,  26th July’ 2019 Shri Kuldeep Saini, IG BSF, Shri U K Nayal, DIG and other senior officer participated in the wreath laying ceremony at War Memorial in Frontier HQ BSF Umpling. On the occasion, IG BSF Meghalaya addressed  the gathering and delivered a valuable lecture on Kargil Diwas and sacrifices made by the Armed Forces.

To mark and honor the sacrifices made during the Kargil War, Frontier HQ BSF Meghalaya, its Sector HQrs and Units under  command celebrated the occasion by organizing rallies, Blood Donation Camp, drawing/painting competition along the International Border as well as its Headquarter.

The Border Security Force “the largest Border guarding force of the world” organized a Plantation Drive in association with the Lions Club, Tura at BSF campus, Dobasipara- II, Tura (Meghalaya) on the occasion of “Kargil Vijay Diwas” celebration being observed with effect  from 20th Jul’ 2019 to 27th Jul’ 2019.

Approximately 200 fruit bearing and various other medicinal plants were planted in the BSF Camp, Dobasipara, Tura. Besides BSF officials, important dignitaries from the Lions Club Tura were present on the occasion and planted saplings.

Tree Guards were also fixed to protect the plants. Besides this, the ongoing rainy season will provide required climatic conditions for the plants to grow well. The officials from the Lions Club appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of BSF troops for the plantation drive.

On this auspicious occasion, BSF Comdr delivered a valuable lecture and briefed to BSF troops and available local people regarding the  importance of the “Kargil Vijay Diwas” and sacrifice made by Indian army and BSF troops for the nation.

As a part of “Kargil Vijay Diwas” celebrations  11 Bn and 30 Bn Border Security Force under command of Meghalaya Ftr organized  a Drawing and Paintings competition  in border villages adjoining  BSF BOP Barsora and Sanghat on 24th July 2019.

In the competition Civilian, School Children of Bordering villages and BSF personnel participated. The Local people and School Children of border area participated in all the events overwhelmingly and prizes were distributed to the winners.

On this auspicious occasion, Coy Comdr of BOP Barsora  and Sanghat delivered a valuable lecture and briefed to participants regarding the  importance of the “Kargil Vijay Diwas” and sacrifice made by Indian army and BSF troops for the nation.
