Shillong, February 15:The Border Security Force (BSF), deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, has achieved remarkable success in fulfilling its role of safeguarding the nation’s borders and curbing illegal activities.
During the current fortnight, BSF seized narcotics and other smuggled items worth ₹1, 01, 22,689 crore while apprehending five Indian and 23 Bangladeshi nationals involved in various border-related crimes.
BSF Meghalaya highlighted the significant accomplishments of the Meghalaya Frontier, underscoring its unwavering commitment to maintaining vigilance and ensuring the security of the international border.
Noteworthy achievements include the successful apprehension of 185 cattle and the confiscation of other contraband items. These efforts were bolstered by close collaboration with state and central agencies in joint operations aimed at maintaining peace and preventing illegal activities in the region.
In addition to its border security duties, BSF has demonstrated a profound sense of responsibility toward the welfare of communities residing near the border.
A total of one Good Work and eight Civic Action Programs were organized, including free medical camps, skill development training, sports tournaments, and cultural activities. These initiatives have played a significant role in enhancing the well-being of the local population and fostering trust between the BSF and border communities.
The BSF also actively participated in bilateral meetings to address cross-border issues and enhance coordination with the border guarding forces of Bangladesh. These efforts aim to promote mutual cooperation and ensure the welfare of people living in border areas, thereby contributing to friendly relations between the two nations.
