The BSF Meghalaya confiscated smuggling goods worth Rs. 38 Crores in 2021

Shillong, Jan 012: Troops of BSF Meghalaya left no stone unturned to maintain the sanctity of the International border and prevent trans-border crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh border throughout the year 2021. Despite COVID protocols, miscreants kept on attempting their nefarious tasks, but got disappointed and foiled most of the times by BSF actions.

The BSF Meghalaya confiscated smuggling goods worth more than Rupees 38 Crores in the previous year 2021,data for operational achievements of Meghalaya Frontier as far as seizure for the previous year.

The items and the amount that was confiscated are, Cattle Rs.5,05,66,900/-, Dry Pea Rs.63,71,6324/- Liquor Rs.9,11,073/- fake Indian Currency Rs.9,45,438/- Misc items Rs.27,06,51,093/- Phensedyl Rs. 1,87,443.30/-Hemp/Ganja Rs. 1, 95,500/- Yaba tablet Rs. 3,51,000/- Bangladesh Taka Taka 14,40,165.

While conducting various operations, 150 miscreants got apprehended by BSF Meghalaya which includes 59 Bangladeshis, 88 Indians, 02 Nigerians and 01 African.

The BSF, while continuing its core duty of border guarding in year 2021, has also been remained committed to raise the happiness index of bordering population in the remote village of Indo Bangladesh border.

Providing needful items to bordering population through Civic action programmes, organizing free medical camps, felicitating and indulging in cheerful occasions, providing pre-recruitment training to bordering youth, sports activities and such other efforts cemented the bond which hopefully go a long way in the times to come.

The BSF of  Meghalaya assured to keep these efforts continue throughout year 2022 also and try to be helpful to border populace in every aspect.
