The CMD of MeECL announced load shedding is withdrawn with immediate effect

Shillong, May 10: The MeECL had withdrawn the load shedding from 1st of May 2021 unofficially. However there were some teething problems which needed sorting out.

Despite pre-monsoon showers, our internal power generation has reached only 60MW as against the installed capacity of 350MW. The MeECL hope to reach near full capacity only by June-July.

One unit of OTPC Palatana is still under preventive maintenance shutdown. NEEPCO hydro plants are also under-supplying for want of rain. Because of all these issues which are beyond our control, there is a daily shortfall of 60-80MW.

Recently has reached out to several independent power producers (IPPs) across the country and managed to secure optimal power arrangement.

During these difficult times, the MeECL committed responsibility to ensure reliable power supply for hospitals, storage of vaccines, oxygen plants, students preparing for online exams, professionals working from home and also for the general public especially in Garo Hills to provide succour from the sultry weather.

The Chief Managing Director today announce that MeECL is ensuring 24 hours power supply to all parts of the state and load shedding is hereby withdrawn officially with immediate effect.
