Shillong, May 12: The current standoff between Director NEIGRIHMS and cardiology department of the institute has now claimed an innocent life. A patient lost her life because an ego clash initiated by the Director Dr DM Thappa alleged the organization the FKJGP which prevented the patient of availing reachable and on hand medical equipment and intervention that could have saved her life.
The FKJGP said that the patients who die ha actually she waited for five days for help that never came. NEIGHEIMS has been in the news and for all the wrong reasons for the last 1 1/2 years ever since this Director came.
The FKJGP alleged that Quarrels and infighting, strike by doctors are the highlights and main achievements of Dr Thappa. Staff and faculty are sick and tired of his dictatorial and whimsical style of functioning. It is clear that there is no sense of vision from the level of the top management and disillusionment and anger are the main products from the Directors office.
The unfortunate incident leading to the neglected patients unnecessary demise arose from the Directors unrealistic stand that equipment, drugs and medicine for cardiology purposes be purchased from AMRIT pharmacy only. The patient died because AMRIT was unable to supply the required equipment.
The organization said that the Question arises, how the Director and his eccentricity can be allowed to play with patients lives, said Mr Wellbirth Rani President FKJGP Central Body, in the press statement issued today to the media.
