Shillong, August 05: Whereas, in view of current situation in Bangladesh there is likelihood of cross border movement ofunwanted elements including people, member of proscribed militant groups, smugglers and any other illegalactivities on Indo-Bangladesh border.
Whereas the bordering area in East Jaintia Hills district being unfenced is highly prone to infiltration by illegal migrants, members of organized crime having linkage to anti-national elements including militant groups such that the anti-national elements could gather in large numbers near the international border during the night hours to continue their nefarious activities.
Whereas, he is of the opinion that such illegal, undesirable activities should be prevented in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the district, state and the country as one.
Now, therefore, “I Shivansh Awasthi, IAS, District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills district, Khliehriat in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Section 163 BNSS do hereby impose CURFEW from 6 PM to 6 AM up to 200 metres from the Zero Line International Border”.
