Shillong, Oct 27 : The BSF and the District administration of South West Garo Hills District made a joint opération destory huge illegally cultivated hemp in the village of Kuligoan. The operation wad carried by the team of police official and the BSF team from Kalaichar BOP, hemp wer destory in the presence of addtional Magistrate Mr BD Sangma.
During the operation, total 14 patches of cultivated land of hemp have been identified but out of which only 03 patches have been destroyed. Approx 400 hemp plant this 03 patch of land own by Mr Durga Hazong and Sujeet Hazong. All are residence of Kuligaon village under Mahenderganj Police station.
The BSF saidthat approximate 400 Kg raw hemp have been destroyed on the first day of operation. Remaining cultivated patches of hemp could not be destroyed on the first day of operation, but it has been marked and identified by the team.
Further at about 1700 hrs Additinal Magistrate call of the operation as it was getting dark. The Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, inform that rest operation could not be continued as it requires huge manpower for destruction of such huge cultivated hemp in the entire village and it would be continued after comprehensive planning by DC Office SWGH.
Besides above more than 50 patches weighting approximatly 100 quintal raw hemp yet to be destroyed. All these cultivated hemp is meant for smuggling purpose and exposed nexus between Ganja Syndicates and villagers of above village.
