New Delhi, March 10: The Ministry of Tourism through its scheme of “Capacity Building for Service Providers (CBSP)” conducts job oriented short term skill programmes through various institutes across the country, including Bihar.
The main objective of this initiative is to train and up-grade manpower at every strata of tourism service providers in order to capitalize the vast tourism potential of the country to the fullest and provide professional expertise to the local populace.Ministry of Tourism has taken several initiatives for development of tourist destination and domestic tourism in the country as under:
The Ministry of Tourism under the schemes of ‘Swadesh Darshan’, ‘National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’ and ‘Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure Development’ provides financial assistance to State Governments and Union Territory Administrations and Central Agencies for the development of tourism related infrastructure and facilities at various tourism destinations in the country.
Ministry of Tourism revamped the Swadesh Darshan Scheme as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) with the objective to develop sustainable tourism destinations and has identified 58 destinations and sanctioned 34 projects in the country.
Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism has formulated “Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD)” as a sub-scheme under SD2.0 aiming for holistic development of destination to enhance tourist experience.
Furthermore, Government of India sanctioned 40 projects in 23 States for ₹3295.76 Crore in Financial Year 2024-25 under ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’ Scheme with the objective to comprehensively develop iconic tourist centres in the country, branding and marketing them at global scale.
The State wise detail of projects sanctioned in various States and Union Territory Administrations under the schemes of “Swadesh Darshan 2.0” and destinations identified under “CBDD” and “SASCI” .
This information was given by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a written reply in Lok Sabha today and when it come to Meghalaya the Union Government has sanction Rs.27.84 cores for the Waterfall Trails Experience in Meghalaya.
