The IMI will be hosting the 8th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit in Shillong

Shillong, Oct 30: The Indian Mountain Initiative, New Delhi and Meghalaya Integrated Development Initiative (MIMDI), Shillong will be hosting the 8th Sustainable Mountain Development Summit from the 4th-6thNovember 2019 at NEC Auditorium, Nongrim Hills, Shillong.

The theme for the summit is Sustainable Mountain Initiative for Livelihood and Entrepreneurship among Youth (SMILEY). The Summit is co-hosted by Martin Luther Christian University and NERCORMP, Shillong.

The Inaugural Function will be held on the 4th of November 2019 at 12 p.m. and Shri. Conrad K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Meghalaya will inaugurate the programme as the Chief Guest.

On the 4th and 5th November 2019, sessions and panel discussions will be held on topics like approaches in e-agriculture, renewable energy,  food  processing and marketing, sustainable tourism, creating jobs for  the youth and many others.

A hallmark of the summit is the Legislators Meet from the Indian Himalayan States on the 6th of Nov at NEC for discussing policy issues and future plans.

The Summit is co-sponsored by North Eastern Council and Govt. of Meghalaya along with international agencies including Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation and International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development.

Representatives and resource persons from state Govt. departments and agencies like ICAR, ICIMOD, SDC, Zero Waste besides various others will attend the programme.
