The Indian Air Force to hold two day ‘Air Fest 2018’ to commemorating 86th anniversary

Shillong, Oct 02: As part of 86th Air Force Day celebrations, “Headquarters Eastern Air Command” at Upper Shillong is planning an Air Force Festival ‘AIR FEST 2018’ from 06 to 07 October 2018.

The festival is being conducted at the Shillong Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) and is open to all Indian citizens between 1000-1600 hours on both days.  It will showcase the ‘spirit of adventure which epitomizes Indian Air Force.

The festival commences with a fly past of Su-30 MKI multi-role fighter aircraft and Mi-17 Russian built Helicopters.  Display by Air Warriors Drill Team (AWDT) and exercise towards Small Troops Incursion & Evacuation (STIE) by IAF ‘Garud’ Commandos are also planned.

During the entire period, the IAF band shall enthral the visitors.  In addition, there will be demonstration of slithering operations by Garud, IAF’s elite commandos.

The Air Fest is an endeavour to showcase to the people the history, glory, spirit of adventure and challenging opportunities in the IAF.  Towards this,  all citizens with family and friends are encouraged to  join ,participate and enjoy Air Fest.
