Shillong, June 11: The Meghalaya Youth Congress joins the nation in demanding that the government immediately rollback the hikes in petrol diesel prices due to which the price of essential commodities is also rising. Stop the injustice!
The Mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic blunders of the government has crippled many Indian families economy and mental health and lakhs of people have seen a reduction in their incomes, lakhs have lost their jobs and lakhs are forced to close their businesses without any help or support from the government.
Government had left the people to fend themselves. We are at the bottom of the heap in almost all social indicators and sustainable development goal. People especially the youth have lost all their hope on the government of the day.
This year alone, the government increased the fuel prices a whopping 47 times and since last year the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by ₹ 26.79 and ₹ 25.02 respectively.
The Congress party has always stood by the citizens of India and it will not allow the BJP government to continue exploiting people.
Today Congress workers & leaders across the country are protesting against the government to demand a roll back of the unnecessary & exorbitant hikes in fuel prices.
Petrol now costs Rs 90 plus in Meghalaya and even reached to Rs 102 a litre in some places in the country. Under UPA when the intl crude prices were $101, we were paying ₹63 for petrol.
Under NDA when the crude prices is $69, we are having to pay ₹100. Why are Indians being forced to pay the world’s highest price for Petrol & Diesel when their incomes have taken a huge hit. BJP is looting India in the name of taxes. Our people are suffering enough. The government must stop this loot.said Mr. Richard Mrong Marak in the press statement.
