Maligaon, Oct 19: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway continues to fight against transhipment of contraband items in railways and has recovered Ganja worth more than Rs. 14 lacs.
They have seized around 147 Kgs. of Ganja approximately, between 15th & 16th of October, 2022. The contraband items were recovered from unclaimed bags during regular checks and drives at various stations and trains over N. F. Railway.
In an incident on 16th October, 2022, RPF team of Agartala conducted a drive at Agartala railway station. In course of drive, they seized 04 unclaimed sacks containing 24 packets of Ganja.
The Ganja were seized and weighed around 60 Kgs. approximately and valued near about Rs. 6 lacs. Later the seized items were handed over to GRP of Agartala for further course of action.
In a similar incident on 16th October, 2022, a joint team of RPF and Alipurduar and RPF, New Coochbehar conducted a drive at New Coochbehar railway station acting over an information, at 15626 DN (Agartala-Deoghar Express).
During the drive, the team seized 04 unclaimed cotton sacks containing Ganja. The seized Ganja was worth approximately Rs. 5.68 lacs and weighed around 56.8 Kgs. The seized items were further handed over to GRP of New Cooch behar for further course of action.
Between 15th and 16th of October, 2022, RPF of N.F. Railway conducted drives against contraband items at Agartala, Dimapur, Kamakhya and New Cooch behar railway stations and trains and recovered a total of 12 unclaimed bags and 07 unclaimed packets of contraband items (Ganja) weighing a total of 147 Kgs approximately that valued around Rs. 14.7 lacs.
The items were seized and handed over to the respective OC/GRP of the stations for further course of action. It may be mentioned here that RPF of N. F. Railway towards their objective of a drug free country, are constantly vigil towards activities related to smuggling and transportation of contraband items at various railway stations and trains so as to make the nation drugs free.
