The RPF recovered about 17 kgs of contraband Ganja from train in Rangiya Railway Station

Maligaon, March 12: By swiftly acting on reliable source of information; RPF (Railway Protection Force) team comprising members from the CIB (Crime Investigation Branch) and CPDS (Crime Prevention & Detection Squad) of Rangiya yesterday recovered about 17 kgs of contraband Ganja from train.

The RPF team started search operation inside the coaches of 15960 Dibrugarh – Howrah Kamrup Express in between Rangiya and Barpeta Road stations while the train was on move.

During search, 15 small packets were detected from coach number NF 197991 & NF 19795. These packets were found to be concealed in the roof, just on the top of the doors of coach when the train reached Pathsala station. Each packet was found to be containing Ganja.

Value of the seized items is about Rs. 85,000/-. All the recovered items were handed over to Inspector / RPF / Barpeta Road on arrival of the train. Later on completion of all formalities, seized materials were handed over to Incharge of GRP / Barpeta Road for taking necessary actions as per norms.

It may be mentioned here that RPF of Northeast Frontier Railway has been successfully recovering such items during routine checking and raids. During the year 2019, RPF successfully recovered items worth Rs. 6.1 crs from various stations within its jurisdiction.
