Tree plantation drive sapling distribution on World Environment Day 2026

Maligaon, June 09: As part of the observance of World Environment Day 2026, the Northeast Frontier Railway Women Welfare Organization (NFRWWO), under the leadership of its President, Smt. Shalini Shrivastava, organized a tree plantation drive and distributed saplings among the students of Jagriti Shiksha Niketan, Pandu, reaffirming its commitment towards promoting environmental awareness and building a greener and cleaner future.

The programme encouraged students to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts and highlighted the importance of protecting nature through plantation and sustainable practices. Saplings were distributed among the children with the message of nurturing trees and contributing to a healthier environment.

Jagriti Shiksha Niketan, Pandu, established in 1975 in the railway settlement of Pandu, began as a modest initiative and has since evolved into an important centre for primary education catering to underprivileged children from the Pandu and Maligaon areas.

Over the past five decades, the institution has steadily progressed with the support of various organizations, benefactors and well-wishers.

Presently, under the guidance and patronage of Smt. Shalini Shrivastava, President of NFRWWO, the school provides quality education to more than 160 students from Play Group to Class V. The institution is supported by a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff and places special emphasis on the holistic development of its students through academic, cultural and extracurricular activities.

As the school marks its remarkable 50-year journey of service, plans have been outlined for further development and upgradation of facilities to create an even more conducive learning environment for the children.

NFRWWO remains committed to supporting educational initiatives and community welfare programmes that contribute to the overall development of society.
