Shillong, June 21: The Town Vending Committee has issued the Certificates of Vending (COVs) to eligible street vendors from 2rd to 19th June 2025 after due process adhering to the provisions of the Meghalaya Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme 2023 read with the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act 2014.
Whereas, the Government of Meghalaya, on recommendation of the Town Vending Committee has issued a modified notification regarding street vending zones at Khyndai-Lad Area vide No. UAU.5/2017/Pt. III/427 dated 2nd May 2025 whereby the Upper Floor of MUDA was notified as a vending zone.
As per provisions of the Meghalaya Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Scheme 2023, all street vendors in possession of valid COVs are hereby directed to relocate to the notified vending zones (as specified in theirrespective COV) with effect from 22nd July 2025.
The undersigned also states herein that as per Government’s notification No.UAU.5/2017/Pt. III/429 dated 26th May 2025, the remaining parts of Khyndai Lad area has been notified as a no vending zone.
Therefore, persons without possessing a valid COV and who vend or sell their goods along the road in Khyndai-Lad area are requested to forthwith vacate the spaces in their occupation with immediate effect and not later than three days from the date of publication of this notice.
This general notice is issued for information of all concerned and complaisance is solicited said the Chairperson Town Vending Committee and who is also Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board.
