Shillong, Nov 29: The World Bank will provide US $230 million aid to help build 1625 kilometres of road under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sarak Yojna in economically backward state of Meghalaya.
However, Meghalaya Government has admitted that the progress of implementation of PMGSY schemes in the state is slow as the Chief Minister has stressed that the State Government needs to fast track the PMGSY scheme implementation.

The PWD department so far has prepared 224 DPRs for the approximately 600 kilometres of the road under the PMGSY.
The Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the Government would cover those villages under the scheme that has not been covered under any other scheme.
“In the meeting few hurdles were flagged and arrived at discussions,” Chief Minister told reporters here on Friday.
