240 urban development projects approved in NE Region

Shillong, August 1: The Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India has approved a total of 240 projects in urban infrastructure and services in the North Eastern Region during the year 2012-13 estimated at a cost of Rs.2079.60 crore, of which the Govt. of India share is Rs.1934.06 crore and Rs.1419.69 crore have been released by the Ministry.

Of these, 124 projects have been completed by the North Eastern States. The projects completed are 57 in Arunachal Pradesh, 35 in Assam, 20 in Manipur, 17 in Meghalaya, 19 in Mizoram, 49 in Nagaland, 25 in Sikkim and 18 in Tripura.

The scheme of 10% Lump Sum Provision for the benefit of the NE States is being implemented as per guidelines of the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and instructions issued by the Ministry of Urban Development.(SP News)
