DADENGGRE, 1 Dec: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma laid the Foundation Stone for the Greater Raksamgre Water Supply Scheme (GWSS) under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) at Raksamgre under Tikrikilla C and RD Block. At the same programme Dr Sangma also laid the foundation Stone for the strengthening and improvement of riding road quality of the 15 kilometer stretch Phutamati to Jangrapara road. The cost of the project is 9.5 4 crores and will cover 52 villages.

ssing the gathering Dr Sangma informed that 4 crores have been sanctioned for road connection from Rongram to Lakimpur in Assam via Damal Asim, Raksamgre and Phutamati as part of the government. Inter State Border Areas Development project. Dr Sangma stated that the Border Area Development Officers have also been notified of the project. Salaries of primary school teachers have been increased stated Dr Sangma and said that the Asian Development Bank will be supporting the education and the health sector in the near future.
Dr Sangma speaking briefly on the government newly introduced Universal Health Insurance Scheme to registered beneficiaries informed that a special accidental death insurance scheme for professional drivers wherein families of drivers can claim financial insurance in case of their death through vehicular accidents. Lamenting the unsatisfactory academic results of Garo Hills Dr Sangma informed that coaching classes for students have been initiated.
Reiterating the government endeavor to strengthen the education sector He stated that aspiring teachers had to compulsorily undergo teacher training for which a scholarship of Rs 5000 per month for two years would be given.
Speaking on the government flag ship Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme Dr Sangma mentioned that aquaculture for Tikrikilla block has been approved and that a Multi Facility Center to promote entrepreneurship have been sanctioned to each block of the state. Referring to a memorandum submitted to Dr Sangma by the Block Congress Committee he assured the installation of a police outpost in Raksamgre.
